La candidata María Corina Machado ganó el domingo la contienda electoral de la oposición venezolana y será la encargada de enfrentar al dictador Nicolás Maduro en las presidenciales de 2024.
Ríos de votantes, familias, voluntarios y autoridades se dieron cita en los predios del Miami Dade College – West Campus – superando las predicciones de los organizadores dentro y fuera de Venezuela.
Según los organizadores de la elección, la participación de la población en los comicios superó las expectativas con más de 18,000 votantes de los 35,000 registrados. Esto fue una “avalancha ciudadana dentro y fuera de Venezuela”, dijo Machado poco antes de que se acabara la votación. “Fue tanta gente a votar que se acabó el material”.
La Comisión Nacional de Primarias informó hacia la media noche que Machado ganaba con más del 90% tras el escrutinio manual del 35% de los votos.
El material electoral se agotó y durante algunos momentos del conteo, los servidores colapsaron en lo que los organizadores calificaron como un claro sabotaje a la jornada electoral.
Las encuestas acertaron al pronosticar que Machado ganaría fácilmente la elección, acumulando una preferencia de más de 45% frente a sus rivales, Carlos Prosperi (Acción Democrática), Andrés Caleca (Movimiento por Venezuela), Tamara Adrián (Unidos por la Dignidad), Delsa Solórzano (Encuentro Ciudadano), Andrés Velásquez (Causa Radical), César Pérez Vivas (Concertación Ciudadana), César Almeida (Unidad Política Popular 89), Gloria Pinho (Por Tí Venezuela) y Luis Farías (Progresistas Merideños Independientes).
