La organización Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), entidad sin fines de lucro con sede en Doral prestó sus instalaciones para empacar productos donados por la comunidad en días recientes buscando apoyar a los desplazados por la invasión rusa a Ucrania. Las donaciones son bienvenidas permanentemente y quienes deseen cooperar pueden llevar comida enlatada, artículos de higiene personal y productos básicos. La gerente de GEM, Yami Soroa, afirma que se trata de un momento especial en el que los ucranianos necesitan la asistencia humanitaria de todo el mundo y que debemos ayudar a los desplazados. Las instalaciones de GEM están ubicadas en el 1810 NW 94 Avenida en Doral.

Hace un año hablamos con la directora de parques de Doral, Erin Sullivan, para manifestarle el malestar de los usuarios de canchas de tenis cuando tratan de reservar para practicar en cualquiera de los parques de la ciudad. En ese entonces nos dijo que ya estaban implementando el software para hacer las reservas online y evitar muchas situaciones incomodas con los empleados de los parques. En Octubre pasado la funcionaria volvió a mencionar que estaban en proceso de perfeccionar el sistema y al cierre de esta edición nos dice que ya casi!! A final de mes podríamos reservar canchas vía online.
