Doral (Diciembre 2, 2022) – El tradicional parque “Santa’s Enchanted Forest” que durante 39 años ha deleitado a residentes y visitantes del sur de Florida abrió sus puertas en un lugar muy diferente al su tradicional ubicación del Tropical Park donde estuvo 37 años y Hialeah lugar en el que estuvo el año pasado.
El parque navideño se ubicó en el 7400 NW y la 87 Avenida, justo en territorio de la planta recicladora de basuras Covanta, que geográficamente pertenece a la ciudad de Medley pero cuya pestilencia afecta a Doral y otras ciudades por más de 40 años.
El parque opera de 5PM a 12 de la medianoche pero este año la asistencia de visitantes ávidos de atracciones emocionantes y espíritu navideño se ha visto reducida drásticamente. Las razones tienen que ver con dos problemas que afectan seriamente la ciudad de Doral y que se han usado como caballo de batalla de políticos irresponsables que han permanecido en el poder prometiendo soluciones que nunca llegaron.
Primero el caos de tráfico que vive la ciudad que prácticamente queda bloqueada todos los días de 4 a 7 pm debido a la precaria estructura vial y a la falta de control del tráfico en las arterias de la ciudad. Transitar tan solo una milla en las horas de mayor flujo vehicular implica un mínimo de tiempo de 15 minutos dentro de la ciudad, algo que desanima a residentes y visitantes.
Sin embargo, superado el fenómeno del tráfico, después de las 7PM, la posibilidad de que los visitantes se vean afectados por los olores que despide la planta recicladora es muy alta y algunos prefieren evitar la visita al lugar. Maritza Gutiérrez, portavoz de Santa’s Enchanted Forest sostiene que la proximidad a las instalaciones de la planta no es un problema para visitantes y residentes.
La portavoz destaca que el parque tiene más atracciones, 50 vendedores más de comida y notables mejoras en seguridad como los detectores de metal en sus entradas.
El icónico parque tendrá horarios especiales durante los días de navidad y año nuevo y sus propietarios esperan que la millonaria inversión realizada en el nuevo lugar, atraiga muchos residentes de Doral y sur de Florida para disfrutar el tradicional espíritu navideño de Santa’s Enchanted Forest.
