Few elected officials carry out their duties with such honesty and dedication to the community. Doral residents should feel privileged to have true public servants representing them—specifically Mayor Christi Fraga, Councilwoman Nicole Reinoso, and Councilman Rafael Piñeiro.
Councilman Piñeiro, in particular, remains attentive to the community’s most vulnerable sectors. Working alongside Luis Amor, Director of the Department of Economic Development, he is now championing initiatives that encourage investment—benefiting not only seniors but also local business owners. These officials deserve full recognition for boosting the local economy at a time when inflation threatens family well-being and there is a need for serious, effective, and free events that foster growth. Initiatives such as the “Doral Seeds” program—which awards $50,000 to a winning entrepreneur—along with “Café & Comunidad” and other business gatherings, represent genuine opportunities for progress rather than costly, useless social events that benefit only a select few.

As August came to a close, I want to take a moment to share some of the work we have accomplished together this month.
From important decisions at City Hall to new community programs, business engagement, recognitions, and efforts to strengthen public safety and community trust, this month has been focused on one thing: delivering results while continuing to bring our community together.
RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT, REAL RESULTS
This month, we continued important discussions regarding the City of Doral’s FY 2026–2027 budget and the financial decisions that will shape our community in the year ahead. My approach remains simple: protect taxpayers, spend responsibly, and continue improving the services our residents rely on.
The proposed operating millage rate is 1.5994 mills, continuing a historic second consecutive year of reducing Doral’s City property tax rate. At the same time, we are working to strengthen City revenues, reduce unnecessary expenditures, and identify new efficiencies across our operations.
Fiscal responsibility does not mean doing less. It means making every taxpayer dollar work harder for our community. The proposed budget continues investments in public safety, infrastructure, technology, recreation, community programming, and services for our seniors. Parks & Recreation alone is projecting significant new revenue while reducing operating costs and maintaining and expanding important services, including additional investments in senior wellness programs.
Doral also continues to maintain the lowest municipal operating millage rate among the Miami-Dade municipalities included in the City’s comparison. The goal is clear: lower taxes, stronger finances, and better services for our residents.
SUPPORTING DORAL’S BUSINESS COMMUNITY
A strong city requires a strong local economy, and that means maintaining an open and direct relationship with the businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals who invest in Doral and create opportunities for our residents.
This month, we brought members of our business community together at Banesco for the Doral Business Networking Cocktail, creating an opportunity for business owners, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to connect, exchange ideas, and build new relationships.
These conversations matter. As Doral continues to grow, we need to understand the challenges facing our businesses, connect them with resources and opportunities, and ensure that our economic realities are part of the decisions we make at City Hall.My approach is simple: visit, listen, connect, and act.
Doral continues to attract new investment, development, businesses, and talent. Our responsibility is to make sure that growth translates into greater opportunity for the people and businesses already calling our city home.

BRINGING RESOURCES DIRECTLY TO OUR COMMUNITY
Serving Doral also means creating opportunities and programs that respond to the everyday needs of our residents. This month, we helped bring two new community-focused initiatives to our city.
Through Coffee & Community, residents had the opportunity to connect with local organizations, professionals, and resources focused on grief, emotional support, and community connection. It created a welcoming environment where residents could ask questions, learn about available support, and build meaningful relationships with organizations serving our community.
We also hosted Vivir Bien con Dolor Crónico, an educational wellness workshop designed to help residents better understand chronic pain and explore practical tools that may contribute to an improved quality of life.

Participants learned about nutrition, movement, sleep, stress reduction, breathing techniques, acupuncture, and other approaches to overall wellness. These are the types of initiatives I want to continue bringing to Doral: programs that are practical, accessible, and directly connected to the needs of our residents.

Desde decisiones importantes en el Ayuntamiento hasta nuevos programas comunitarios, colaboración con el sector empresarial, reconocimientos y esfuerzos para fortalecer la seguridad pública y la confianza de la comunidad, este mes nos hemos centrado en un objetivo: ofrecer resultados mientras seguimos uniendo a nuestra comunidad.
GOBIERNO RESPONSABLE, RESULTADOS REALES
Este mes continuamos con importantes deliberaciones sobre el presupuesto de la Ciudad de Doral para el año fiscal 2026–2027 y las decisiones financieras que definirán el futuro de nuestra comunidad en el próximo año. Mi enfoque sigue siendo sencillo: proteger a los contribuyentes, gestionar el gasto con responsabilidad y continuar mejorando los servicios de los que dependen nuestros residentes.
La tasa impositiva operativa propuesta es de 1,5994 *mills*, lo que marca un hito histórico al reducir por segundo año consecutivo la tasa del impuesto sobre la propiedad en Doral. Al mismo tiempo, trabajamos para fortalecer los ingresos de la Ciudad, reducir gastos innecesarios e identificar nuevas formas de optimizar la eficiencia en nuestras operaciones.
La responsabilidad fiscal no significa hacer menos; significa lograr que cada dólar de los contribuyentes rinda más en beneficio de nuestra comunidad. El presupuesto propuesto mantiene las inversiones en seguridad pública, infraestructura, tecnología, recreación, programas comunitarios y servicios para nuestros adultos mayores. El Departamento de Parques y Recreación, por sí solo, proyecta generar nuevos ingresos significativos a la vez que reduce costos operativos y mantiene o amplía servicios clave, incluidas inversiones adicionales en programas de bienestar para personas mayores.

Servir a Doral también significa crear oportunidades y programas que respondan a las necesidades cotidianas de nuestros residentes. Este mes, ayudamos a traer a nuestra ciudad dos nuevas iniciativas centradas en la comunidad.
