Doral, March 15/2023. Residents of Doral are frustrated with illegal RV street parking in their neighborhood and this is not the first time that Sam’s parking lot is being used for this purpose representing a risk to the safety and health of workers and visitors of this commercial plaza.
The parking lot belongs to Sam’s and Walmart, located at 8425 NW 13TH Terrace, Doral, FL 33126, and is used by RV owners to stay for weeks in violation of the Miami-Dade county and Doral parking rules.
“Depending on the season, it’s easy to find up to 12 RV’s parked in this place,” said Alejandro Castillo, resident of Doral and regular visitor of Sam’s Doral.
The parking facilities don’t have public health services, and using them as a place for living represents a potential spread of diseases like hepatitis, salmonella, and shigella. Users of RVs do not have access to drinking water, and they use the water fountains and sanitary services of Sam’s and Walmart. According to health authorities, there is a serious risk of spreading diseases like giardia and cryptosporidium.
The other problem is that there are not safe solid waste collection and disposal services to minimize rat and roach infestations, as well as reservoirs for mosquitoes and associated diseases such as West Nile Virus, Dengue, St Luis, and Eastern Equine encephalitis.
The security of vehicles and clients of these supermarkets is also an issue, and residents expect a prompt answer from local authorities. In 2022 Doral First Magazine reported the same problem and the vehicles were removed from the parking, but they’re back, and the residents are asking for the issue of a permanent prohibition to keep away RV’s, Trailers, and Trucks from this neighbor.
