Las medidas revocadas vuelven a permitir el otorgamiento de 20.000 visas bajo el programa de reunificación familiar, eliminan el límite de envío de remesas establecido en $1,000 máximo por trimestre y permiten los vuelos desde Estados Unidos hacia provincias de Cuba y no solo hacia La Habana.
Las reacciones al anuncio de Biden no se hicieron esperar, la congresista republicana María Elvira Salazar arremetió contra el mandatario por lo que considera una decisión favorable a la dictadura. “Biden le ha mandado un tanque de oxígeno al régimen para que siga respirando y atacando a los cubanos, para que sigan golpeándolos y atropellando sus derechos”, dijo Salazar.
Para el ex congresista demócrata Joe García el alivio es justo y podría aliviar la situación de miles de personas en la isla. “Estas medidas contribuyen a aliviar la situación de personas que viven en malas condiciones dentro del régimen”, aseguró García.
Analistas internacionales consideran que este es un error más de la administración Biden afectada por la más baja aprobación en décadas. Hace tres meses el gobierno fue blanco de las más duras críticas al tratar de negociar suministro de petróleo con el régimen venezolano de Nicolás Maduro.
