Miami, (Abril 2, 2022). (Redacción Doral First Magazine) La vida de María González, una mujer de 79 años residente de Miami-Dade hoy tiene un alivio tras recibir el apoyo de la comunidad para evitar ser desalojada del apartamento donde vive hace 25 años.
La abuela de nacionalidad cubana recibió una orden de desalojo de parte de los propietarios del edificio ubicado en el 7050 W Flagler, tras haberse quejado por la presencia de humedad en la vivienda.
“Soy una persona de 79 años, estoy enferma, deshabilitada y no tengo familia aquí’ dijo la mujer al noticiero local Telemundo-51.
Tras conocerse la noticia la candidata a comisionada por el Distrito 12 de Miami-Dade, Sophia-Lacayo, se hizo presente para ofrecer su apoyo a esta persona que como muchas en el condado, está en riesgo de perder su vivienda tras los aumentos descontrolados en la renta y la falta de recursos para cubrir las necesidades básicas.
“Vengo a ver qué está pasando con muchos de nuestros residentes a los que se les ha aumentado el valor de la renta y los están sacando de sus viviendas” dijo Lacayo.
El caso de la señora González, es solo uno de los muchos que se han presentado en Miami-Dade durante los últimos meses ante la oleada de alzas en la renta sin que haya control de las autoridades.
Recientemente la candidata americana-nicaragüense se refirió al problema de las rentas en Miami-Dade como una situación a la que hay que encontrar pronta solución por parte del gobierno local. (Ver Sophia Lacayo aplaude ordenanza para proteger a residentes contra aumento desbordado de rentas)
“Los alquileres en Miami-Dade se han desbordado y la gente no tiene más remedio que abandonar sus viviendas disminuyendo su calidad de vida. Los aumentos en algunos casos han llegado al 50% y tenemos que encontrar soluciones permanentes para aliviar la difícil situación de nuestros residentes”, afirmó Lacayo.
Las rentas en Miami-Dade han experimentado un aumento de hasta el 50% en sectores de bajos ingresos en el condado y en otros casos han superado el 100% llevando a residentes a abandonar sus viviendas ante la imposibilidad de pagar.
