Doral (Diciembre 21, 2022) La juramentación de Christi Fraga como la primera mujer electa para la alcaldía de Doral marcò la historia de esa ciudad tras las elecciones del 13 de Diciembre.
Hace una semana tres contiendas se realizaron en Doral dando como resultado la elección de la ex comisionada de la Junta Escolar de Miami Dade con 54.53% frente a 45.47% de su oponente Claudia Mariaca.
La ceremonia de juramentación para los nuevos miembros del concejo contó con la asistencia de centenares de seguidores que asistieron a la sede de la alcaldía. Sin embargo la concejala Digna Cabral no asistió al evento al igual que el concejal Oscar Puig-Corve quien faltó a la histórica ocasión. Los seguidores de Fraga creen que los dos concejales quieren mantener distancia de Fraga ya que ellos son peones del ex alcalde Juan Carlos Bermúdez.
“No venir a este evento es una forma de decir que están siguiendo las instrucciones de Bermùdez y se opondrán a la mayoría de propuestas que provengan de los aliados de Fraga” dijo el empresario Joe Marcano durante el evento.
Los nuevos concejales Rafael Pineyro y Maureen Porras asistieron a la ceremonia mostrando respeto tanto a sus seguidores como a los votantes de la ciudad. Pineyro derrotò a Susie Castillo con cerca de 51.25% por la silla 1, mientras que Porras superò a Ivette Gonzalez Petkovich por la silla 2 con el 51.84%.
Los recien elegidos gobernantes se han comprometido con la comunidad de Doral en eliminar la ordenanza 2021-02 que aprobó la legislación de pensiones y beneficios que hará daño a las finanzas de la ciudad de manera permanente.
“Los pagos son fuertes para el presupuesto así que pediremos elecciones especiales para llevar esta medida a referéndum, ese es un asunto que abordaremos de inmediato” dijeron los candidatos durante la campaña.
